3D Visualization of Morphological Evolution of Large Defects during Spark Plasma Sintering of Alumina Granules

The mechanical reliability of products must be assured for scaling up and production complex‐shaped components by spark plasma sintering (SPS) spray‐dried granules. evolution morphologies pores defects, which control the strength, is investigated using synchrotron X‐ray multiscale tomography during SPS alumina granules at 1300 °C. While large defects arising from hierarchical granule packing structure cannot removed pressureless sintering, crack‐like branched rodlike are almost eliminated stresses higher than 30 50 MPa, respectively. But, small ellipsoidal porous regions, may arise aggregates or dimples granules, even a pressure MPa. A very defect also found micro‐CT. It supposed that this formed void in loosely packed shrinkage voids elimination explained theoretical prediction based on continuum theory sintering.
